Resource Overview

The Institute for Private Business (IPB) at Saint Louis University is focused on assisting the growth and vitality of family and other closely held businesses through education, networking, and academic research.

This program is not a new effort. SLU has been serving family and other closely held businesses for decades through programs like the Family Firm Forum. We have expanded the scope to allow any private business to be involved and to expand the topics beyond family business. The John Cook School of Business has a 100-year history of close relationships with the region’s business community.

The Institute for Private Business is the vehicle that brings business owners and senior executives from private businesses and family-held businesses together to learn and grown from each other. Interactive seminars, educational forums, panel discussions, peer groups, newsletters, research studies and other Saint Louis University resources are offered to IPB member companies.

We are sharing the resources of Saint Louis University to help our members and their employees to reach their fullest potential, to create an innovative strategic direction for their company, and to meet others who are in similar circumstances, share experiences, and realize that it doesn’t have to be lonely at the top.

The Institute for Private Business is part of The Center for Entrepreneurship in the John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University. We have a nationally renowned and 13th ranked entrepreneurship program and center. We have resources to offer private business that can be delivered in a safe, neutral environment with no motivation other than to see their businesses grow and create more jobs to strengthen our region.
